Immigration Children's Book
You will use historical imagination and research to create a historical fiction book for children, through which you tell the story of a specific group of American immigrants who came to America in the 1800's. The grading rubric and research links are at the bottom of this page. Your book must include the following:

Content Guidelines:
WHY THEY CAME
1. PUSH factor as to why your character left their homeland.
2. PULL factors as to why they came here.
PREPARATION TO LEAVE
1. What possessions did they take?
2. Who did they take?
3. What will they miss?
THE JOURNEY TO AMERICA
1. What was the trip across the ocean like?
2. What did they have to do to be allowed into America?
3. Did everyone make it?
WHERE DID THEY SETTLE?
1. Where in America did they settle? Why did they settle here?
2. What conditions did they find here?
HOW WERE THEY TREATED?
1. What attitudes did they face? GOOD/BAD and Why?
2. How did they deal with their treatment?
TRIALS AND TRIBULATIONS
1. Provide at least 3 PROBLEMS they faced in America?
2. How did they overcome these problems?
WHY DID THEY STAY?
1. Was America what they thought it would be?
2. What 2-3 reasons would immigrants provide as to why they stayed?
WHAT DID THEY CONTRIBUTE?
1. IN GENERAL, what did immigrants do for our country?
2. SPECIFICALLY, what did your immigrants contribute to our country?
