Progressive Reformer Speed Dating Project
We will be speed dating with Progressive Era reformers next week. You will be assigned one of the progressive reformers and you will need to go on mini-dates with the other reformers. Your goal will be to let them know who you are and to learn who they are.
To prepare for your “dates” you need to research your assigned progressive reformer. Since your “date” will only be a few minutes, you just need to just focus on what your person did in terms of dealing with social problems of the late 1800s and early 1900s. It is NOT a complete biography of his/her life. When you are researching your role
On the speed dates you will tell your “dates” about your experiences during the Progressive era. You will also need to learn about your “dates” and what they did during the progressive era. You will have a chart to complete as you go on the dates.
You will first research your reformer and create a poster displaying their essential information:
- Their Name
- A Picture
- A Title (Giving us a hint about what they are famous for - For example, Theodore Roosevelt was known as "The Trust Buster")
- What was his/her area of concern? Why?
- What did he/she do about that issue? Be specific and give multiple examples.
- What was the impact of his/her actions? Give specific examples.
- What people were they working against? What factors prevented them from accomplishing more?
